چکیده
We present a method for direction field design on surface and volumetric meshes supporting non-orthogonality. Our approach is generalization of the representation 3D cross fields in spherical harmonic basis. As such it induces geometrically meaningful measure smoothness, allows orthogonality control by simple parameter enables orientation constraints single direction. To best our knowledge this first work to propose non-orthogonal frame design. demonstrate applicability generate anisotropic quadrangular hexahedral which are particularly useful remeshing CAD models.

If we consider the quotient space of each tangent plane with respect to this equivalence relation, and the related quotient tangent bundle TS/∼1, a field FD : S −→ TS/∼1 maps each point on the surface to a direction. It is customary to take unit-length vectors as representatives of their equivalence classes, so that a direction field can be regarded as a vector field where the length of all vec...
متن کاملDesigning 2D Vector Fields
We introduce a scheme of control polygons to design topological skeletons for vector fields of arbitrary topology. Based on this we construct piecewise linear vector fields of exactly the topology specified by the control polygons. This way a controlled construction of vector fields of any topology is possible. Finally we apply this method for topology-preserving compression of vector fields co...
متن کاملPolarization singularities in 2D and 3D speckle fields.
The 3D structure of randomly polarized light fields is exemplified by its polarization singularities: lines along which the polarization is purely circular (C lines) and surfaces on which the polarization is linear (L surfaces). We visualize these polarization singularities experimentally in vector laser speckle fields, and in numerical simulations of random wave superpositions. Our results con...
متن کاملDirectional Flow Visualization of 2D and 3D Vector Fields
No single natural representation exists for visualizing all of the information in a vector eld. As a result, numerous methods have been developed, each emphasizing diierent aspects of the ow. This paper presents a method of ow visualization that highlights directional information in the eld by overloading feature glyphs with directional information information through a technique similar to bum...
متن کاملLocalized Flow Analysis of 2D and 3D Vector Fields
In this paper we present an approach to the analysis of the contribution of a small subregion in a dataset to the global flow. To this purpose, we subtract the potential flow that is induced by the boundary of the sub-domain from the original flow. Since the potential flow is free of both divergence and rotation, the localized flow field retains the original features. In contrast to similar app...
